About Suzannah

Suzannah is known in America and Europe as a teacher and performer of traditional music. The musical styles from which she draws her material are deliciously varied and include music from America, the British Isles, Balkans, Caucus Republic of Georgia, Corsica and South Africa. Although young, Suzannh has taught and performed for tens of thousand of people both at home in the U.S. and abroad.

"I was lucky enough to grow up singing, dancing and bounding around the country performing, going to music parties and feeling safe where ever music filled the room. As a child, I believed that everyone sang and played instruments or were storytellers, dancers – performers of some sort. Even if they had another vocation I thought all people sang."

"The fear of growing up and being a musician never occurred to me. The thought of growing up and not being a musician/artist never occurred to me. Now as a teacher of singing and dance it is my privelage to help people, young and old alike, find the joy of making music and being in their body. All too often I hear folks say they are great lovers of music but should leave the music making to others. I respond with the African proverb, "If you can talk, you can sing. If you can walk, you can dance."

Concerts

Currently Suzannah is performing with her singing partner, Nathan Morrison. Together with instruments and harmonies they delight and amaze. Nathan sings, plays piano or banjo and Suzannah finally is singing with her guitar in hand. They create a fresh and new sound, not to be missed.

Suzannah performs solo and in ensemble with musical friends and family.

Workshops

Suzannah is known as an energetic, and inspiring leader. Her workshops are for singers of all abilities, from novice to music director. Wheather she's teaching a rollicking gospel number or a soothing Georgian lullaby, she skillfully has groups singing in harmony before they realize they're doing it. She teaches songs both sacred and secular from a wide range of community singing traditions.

Suzannah and the talented Ellie Grace are putting together a new school program for the 2008-09 school year. This dynamic duo are both the younger of two sets of performing sisters. Their charm and talent on the stage is captivating. With music and dance, this duo will thrill and inspire.

Musical Theater

This is Suzananh's "new fun!" Theater was a childhood dream that she has only recently had the opportunity to make reality. As no stranger to the stage, Suzannah has begun this new chapter, mixing singing and acting to the delight of all.
